About

Karly IaconoThanks for stopping by Urban Boating! I hope you have found some useful information and a nice mental break from life while you are not on your boat. Join in on the conversations and let me know who you are (and that you are really out there in cyberspace).  We boaters or want-to-be-boaters need to stick together in this crazy town.

Power Boat TimeshareHere is a bit about me, my real job when not inspiring you to get out on the water is running my Power Boat Timeshare Company Yacht Smart. Yacht Smart offers affordable boat timeshare to the NYC and Northern NJ areas.  We take care of maintenance, deep cleaning, training, insurance slip fees, etc….pretty much everything that you don’t want to do.  You on the other hand show up and enjoy a beautiful day or night on the water on one of our many different boats. Its easy, its affordable, and it will change your lifestyle.  Finally you have time to live and work in NYC and still be a bonifide Parrot Head. Check out our website www.yacht-smart.com and give us a call (201) 656-1636. I would love to hear from you.

  1. Places to dock and camp on the river?

    Hi-

I’m planning an art-float this summer along the river with 7 boats of varying sizes from 45ft down to a canoe. We’d like to dock in towns along the way and do performances. Do you know of a good online resource for finding public docking spots or who to ask if we can dock? We leave from Troy and float down through New York Harbor, then up the East River.

    Thanks!

  2. Hi A’yen,
A good resourse for marinas and facilities along the Hudson River is http://www.travelhudsonvalley.com.

You can even request free River maps on that site which would be nice to pass out to everyone on your trip.

The NY Harbor and East River is not very well developed in terms of public docking. Two places I would reach out to are Chelsea Piers and my own home port the Shipyard Marina.
