Winterizing your Boat – Portable Electric Heaters

It looks like fall, and soon winter, are sneaking up on us whether we like it or not. Over the next few weeks I will be talking about winterization tips to help you safely put your boat into hibernation for the winter. Today’s topic – the misunderstood portable electric heater.

We know you love your boat and you want to make sure it is happy over the winter but the reality is it is not a puppy or small child. It is used to living outside on its own and really doesn’t need a portable heater to keep it warm. On the contrary countless¬†boats have caught fire from shorts in the electric heaters.¬† Give yourself some piece of mind…winterize your boat properly (or pay a trained mechanic to do so) and leave the fire hazard boxes as far away from your boat as possible.
